Off Topic: Need a Sales Video? I’m on Cameo!

I spent over 30 years as B2B salesperson. Ghosting was an occupational hazard — prospects would often not respond, or even acknowledge, my voicemails and emails.

Occasionally, I’d use Cameo to try to break through the clutter. Cameo is a video messaging service in which you can hire a celebrity — Reggie Jackson, Ric Flair, and Lindsay Lohan are a few examples — to record a short video message for someone you know.

People use Cameos for birthday greetings, congratulations for engagements, pep talks, and other milestones. I used them to try to get prospects to return my calls.

They didn’t work every time, but they worked sometimes. The videos jumpstarted conversations, and those conversations often turned into sales.

The problem I had with Cameo: the videos were very expensive, and sometimes the celebrity I hired didn’t really understand what I was looking for. I couldn’t afford to use the service as often as I wanted to.

Would salespeople be willing to hire another salesperson to deliver the message? Someone like me? Having spent decades in the profession, I have the mindset to understand the assignment, and I’m willing to do it for a lot less than George Santos will.

So now I’m on Cameo, at an extremely low introductory price. If you are in sales, you can hire me to record a video message. I will say (almost) anything to (almost) anyone.

I’m Phil Bernstein

I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease on May 25, 2023. At the time, I was only vaguely aware of Parkinson’s — primarily from articles in People about Michael J. Fox. And I didn’t know anyone with the disease.

Now, I know a lot more about the illness, and I’ve joined the Parkinson’s community in my hometown of Portland, Oregon.

I’ve found that writing helps me think through challenges, and this illness definitely qualifies as a challenge. I’ve started Shakin’ Street to help me think through the various obstacles, tools, and resources that a newly-diagnosed Parkinson’s patient encounters along the way.

I hope some of these posts help you address and tackle your own challenges.
